Tamiya Championship Series Announcement

The 2022 Tamiya Championship Series racing season returned after a two-year condensed schedule, due to the COVID world-wide pandemic. While the season returned to a regular full schedule, which also included a new venue in Philadelphia at Big Dog RC, the TCS Finals has remained in question until now.

Today’s announcement is to address the status of the Finals. The U.S. has mostly been widely open for the past nine months, but the rest of the world has seen limited access, depending on hemisphere and country. Unfortunately, that includes Japan, where the Tamiya World Championships take place every October/November. We were optimistically hopeful that Japan would be as open as the U.S. by the time the TCS Nationals came around. Sadly, this is not the case. Travel to Japan remains mostly limited. It is for this reason, there will not be a Tamiya RC World Championship held in 2022.

We have consulted with the planned TCS Finals host site, Hobby Town USA-Hobbyplex, in Omaha, Nebraska. It’s been decided to have a 2022 TCS “Season Finale” instead of our normal national event in which three class champions would then move onto the Tamiya World Championships. Since there is no Ticket to Japan prize at stake, we feel it’s better to finish the season with a fun finale.

TCS 2022 Season Finale Details:
• The 2022 TCS Season Finale will take place on September 17-18 @ HobbyTown USA/Hobbyplex located at 10020 Scott Circle Omaha, NE 68122. Practice for the event will take place on Friday, September 16.
• The classes for the Season Finale include: GT-1, GT-2, GT Pro-Spec, GT NOVICE, Euro-Truck, M-Chassis, F1, and GT-E. Regular TCS season rules apply to all classes.
• A TCS season overall champion will be crowned for each class. 1st through 3rd place trophies will also be awarded at the end of the event, for each class.
• Tamiya R/C product prizes will be awarded for each class (1-3) along with a huge racer raffle encompassing Tamiya’s wide category of product lines.

We hope you can make the TCS Season Finale. The folks over at the Hobbyplex facility put on a great event, and the facility is top notch! I’ve personally have enjoyed testing various Tamiya product at their facility.

One final note…We hope the situation in Japan becomes less restrictive in 2023. If so, it’s our intention to have our normal TCS National Championships with its champions moving on to the World stage!
